Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to begin?

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so we begin with a complimentary 15-minute phone or video chat. It’s an easy, low-pressure way to share what’s going on, ask any questions about my approach, and feel out whether we’re the right fit for each other.

What are your qualifications?

In Ontario, the title of Registered Psychotherapist (RP) is legally protected and regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), ensuring that only qualified, accountable professionals are authorized to practice psychotherapy. I hold the highest clinical status as a Registered Psychotherapist in Independent Practice.

Alongside my Master of Education (Ed.M.) in Psychological Counselling and full CRPO licensure, I have completed advanced, specialized clinical training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) specifically tailored for depression, anxiety, and trauma recovery. To view my full educational background, advanced clinical training, and professional certificates, please visit About Me.

Can I use my insurance coverage for our sessions?

Yes. Most extended health benefit plans in Canada cover services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (Independent Practice). I work with all major Canadian insurance providers, including: Sun Life Manulife Canada Life Desjardins Blue Cross Equitable Life Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) I provide official receipts containing all necessary registration details for seamless reimbursement.

Do you offer in-person or online appointments?

Both. You are welcome to join me at my quiet, comfortable office in historic Unionville (178 Main Street, Markham), or connect virtually from the comfort of your home anywhere across Ontario.

What actually happens in therapy, and how does it work?

Therapy is an intentional, collaborative conversation designed to help you understand why you feel the way you do and how to create lasting change. Rather than just offering advice, we work together to look at the connections between your thoughts, emotional reactions, and daily behaviors. In our sessions, you will gain fresh perspectives on old patterns, practice evidence-based techniques to ease emotional distress, and leave with practical strategies you can immediately apply outside the therapy room.

How do I know if your approach is the right fit for me?

The relationship between client and therapist is one of the strongest predictors of meaningful growth. My approach is a great match if you appreciate a balance of genuine warmth and practical structure; a space where you feel completely heard and supported, but also guided with actionable tools rather than passive nodding.

More questions on your mind? Book a free 15-minute phone or video consultation. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure space to share what’s on your mind, ask any remaining questions about how we’ll work together, and see if my approach feels like the right fit for your journey.
